She is a sweet, loveable 10-year old Amish girl. In 1952 she lives with her four brothers and one sister and with "Mamma" and "Papa" in Northern Indiana. Life on a farm is fun, busy, and interesting, but it is not always suspenseful and so it is for Courtnee. Her parents are Believing Amish and are raising their children to believe in Jesus Christ as well. Courtnee is no exception -- she is a Believer by choice, not by default.

When she and her friend, Teena, are 14 they get to help at a "singing" and stay up late at Teena's. The night ends with great excitement when Courtnee sees a fire in the barn -- that was scary!

Sandy and her parents "drop" in at the Yoder farm in the midst of a bad snowstorm. Sandy is from a nearby city, but she and Courtnee become good friends despite the many differences in their lives.

The girls -- all three -- become aware of boys when they are about 17-years old. The courtship process usually begins with a young man inviting a young woman to ride home from a "singing" with him. Courtnee makes a mistake at first, but realizes it when Abraham "Abe" Schrock attends a "singing" as a visitor. Wow, he is awful nice, were her thoughts. The rest is history, as they say.

All this time she is learning to live like a Bible believing Christian should. Her teachers are her parents and they teach by showing rather than telling. Children learn best that way!

Thanks for visiting,

      Courtnee
